An Angus film club has announced plans to screen a number of contemporary movies when its winter season kicks off.
This month marks the Angus Glens Film Club’s fourth year of screenings at Memus Hall.
Of late the club has shown more classic films such as Whisky Galore or Genevieve but this season will offer more contemporary movies, from modern-day musical greats like Moulin Rouge through to The Duchess starring Keira Knightley.
However, the programme still has places for some old classics, such as legendary Bogart and Hepburn great The African Queen.
Other titles lined up include the Bill Murray 80s Christmas flick Scrooged, The Taming of the Shrew and 2008 Scottish movie Stone of Destiny.
The season kicks off on Friday, October 29, with Moulin Rouge starring Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman.
“The film tells the story of a passion-filled poet who falls for a breathtaking courtesan in an exotic musical love story,” said a club spokesman.
“All of our films are preceded by cartoons and refreshments are served as part of the entertainment. It is the ideal antidote to the winter blues and is perfect for all the family.”
All films start at 7.30pm and entry is £4, which includes refreshments. Full details of this year’s programme can be found on the Angus Glens and Angus Ahead websites.
The equipment is also available for rental by interested parties and can be used for video conferencing and screening events/films from the internet. However, it is stressed that the equipment cannot be moved from the hall.
Memus Hall has facilities for catering and for disabled access.
