A Kirriemuir 90-year-old died following a fall this week.
Andy Whyte’s home in the town was the scene of police activity after concern was raised for his welfare on Wednesday.
The pensioner was taken to Dundee’s Ninewells Hospital but his son, Ian, confirmed Mr Whyte had passed away early on Friday.
He said his father locked himself out of his house on Wednesday when going out on his usual shopping trip.
Mr Whyte then suffered a bad fall and was found in a caravan beside his home.
Police said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident.
