A Brechin woman who falsely obtained £7,090 in benefits has avoided jail.
Judith Toledo, 45, of Slater Way, failed to tell the DWP she had increased hours working at the Victoria Bar between December 31 2013 and October 2 2014, gaining employment and support allowance to which she was not entitled.
Imposing a community payback order with 190 hours of unpaid work as an alternative to custody, Sheriff Gregor Murray said: “This is obviously a serious offence … the amount involved is not the smallest we’ve seen but not the largest we’ve seen.
“This occurred at one of the lower periods of your life and the court is unlikely to see you again.”
