A man admitted stealing meat from a supermarket to fund a diazepam addiction.
Ian Robertson, 37, of School Hill Rise, Portlethen, admitted stealing meat from Co-Operative in Arbirlot Road, Arbroath, on September 8 while on bail.
On the same date at Arbroath police office in Gravesend he also admitted possessing cannabis while on bail.
Depute fiscal Hannah Kennedy said there had been no recovery of the meat.
She added that the cannabis weighed 1.6 grams and had a street value of £10.
Defence agent Bob Bruce said: “The theft was because of his diazepam addiction. He stole them to sell.”
Sheriff Simon Collins sentenced Robertson to 18 weeks in custody, backdated to September 9 when he was remanded.
