There is growing concern over the erosion of health serivces in Angus.
NHS Tayside is currenlty investigating paring its three acute mental health admission wards Carseview in Dundee, Murray Royal in Perth, and the Mulberry at Stracathro down to two.
The 25-bed Mulberry is the largest part of the Susan Carnegie Centre, built just five years ago at a cost of £20 million.
Local councillors Mairi Evans and Jim Houston have joined Angus Council’s social work convener Glennis Middleton in asking questions about the financial case for closure.
Meanwhile, blaming the Scottish Government for a trend towards centralising services, independent councillor David May has asked NHS Tayside for assurances over its general health estate in Angus, including the Montrose Infirmary and Midwifery Unit.
