A man fled from police through Montrose streets and footpaths at speeds of up to 70mph.
Graeme Stott, 37, of Glenesk Avenue, Montrose, was disqualified from driving at Arbroath Sheriff Court after admitting a charge of dangerous driving.
Depute fiscal Hazel Anderson said Stott drove along public roads in the centre of Montrose on November 15, through residential areas, past parks and children’s playgrounds.
The court heard Stott was spotted driving at speed in Museum Street at midnight but when officers signalled for the car to pull over, he turned into Provost Scott’s Road and sped off.
A high-speed pursuit began, reaching speeds of 70mph, before Stott mounted a footpath, at which point police lost sight of him but located him the next day.
Stott was disqualified for 16 months and also ordered to carry out unpaid work.
