Angry parents have lodged a petition after an Arbroath school was accused of cancelling Halloween and Christmas.
Inverbrothock Primary School’s decision to scrap its Halloween dress-up day and Christmas concert has been described as “ridiculous”.
More than 330 signatures have been added to an online petition after parents received a letter from the school.
Marie Forbes posted: “It seems that anything with a bit of joy is taken away from our children nowadays and it needs to stop.”
Margaret Watt added: “I am signing this because our kids have always enjoyed dressing up for Halloween and they also enjoy the traditional Christmas concert.
“What is so wrong with celebrating the long held traditions of this country?”
However, Angus Council said some children were left upset at last year’s Halloween day and some parents had also expressed concerns about the cost of buying costumes.
The local authority said primary 1 children would be taking part in a Christmas Nativity and there would be other dress up/dress down events during the school year.
