One of the largest proposed windfarms in Scotland with turbines the size of “jumbo jets” has been recommended for refusal.
The fate of the massive Saddle Hill windfarm project will be decided by Angus councillors today.
Council officials have advised members to turn down the £45 million development in Glen Isla on the grounds it would have an “unacceptable” impact on the landscape.
Should elected members opt to go against guidance 14 turbines up to 115 metres high would be constructed at the site on the border between Angus and Perthshire.
A band of objectors, who claim the turbines would be the size of jumbo jets, are expected to voice their anger at the committee meeting in Forfar this morning.
The report by the head of planning and place, Vivien Smith, notes that the local authority received 534 letters of objection and 126 in support.
