More than 10,000 people have turned out in less than a fortnight to see world-famous drawings by Leonardo da Vinci in Dundee.

The operators of the McManus Galleries say they are ”delighted” by footfall since the exhibition opened.

The legendary artist’s drawings have more than doubled the number of visitors to the McManus, with around 9,500 people cramming into the venue between August 31 and Tuesday.

It is welcome news to Lord Provost Bob Duncan, chairman of Leisure and Culture Dundee, which operates the McManus.

He said: ”I am delighted that people are visiting the McManus in such numbers. The Leonardo drawings are a stunning display and we are grateful to the Royal Collection for bringing them here.

”The McManus is the only Scottish venue on this tour and this underlines the quality of the venue we have in Dundee.

”There is also a lot of interest for the opening of the V&A’s Selling Dreams fashion photography exhibition at The McManus later this month.”

Dundee is the only Scottish venue which will play host to the 10 beautifully detailed drawings, sketched throughout the late 15th and early 16th century.

The drawings are on loan from The Royal Collection.
