Fans likely to miss out as Dens Park heads for derby sell-out

A capacity crowd is expected at Dens Park for the Dundee derby following huge interest on the first day of ticket sales.

The entire South Enclosure at Dens has already sold out ahead of the Dundee versus Dundee United Premiership clash on September 21.

Tickets are also selling extremely well in other stands and the Dark Blues expect a capacity crowd.

On Monday, a Dundee FC spokesman said: “The tickets have been very popular. The entire South Enclosure has sold out and there are only a few hundred tickets left in the Bobby Cox stand.

“The main stand is also selling well and we are expecting a really good turnout on the day.”

Down the street at Tannadice fans eager to get their hands on tickets formed large queues but there were fears many avid Arabs could be left disappointed.

United director Derek Robertson said: “I hope supporters understand the supply of tickets for the derby at Dens will not be anything like enough to satisfy all of our season ticket holders and that many will be disappointed.

“However, the fact there’s a League Cup derby at Tannadice a few days later should, hopefully, make up for this disappointment.”

Sales of United season tickets are fast approaching 5,600.
