A Dundee schoolboy is going to have a fantastic surprise when he gets back from school today after he was sent a personal letter and a top from his favourite football club.
Six-year-old Aiden Headridge thought he’d try his luck after Neil Lennon’s departure from the Glasgow club and apply for the manager role himself.
After a hard decision process, the club went with Ronny Deila instead, but made it up to the Dundee lad by sending a personalised letter and a T-shirt.
Aiden’s mother Lynne Headridge said he would be delighted.
She said: “He’s a massive fan of the club, got it from his dad and older brother. He’s had a season ticket the past few years and goes to all the games.”
“He’s going to be very excited.”
The wee man had written the letter after the departure of long-time manager Neil Lennon,
His mum said: “It was just a bit of fun, he wrote it and said ‘could you mail it off’, we thought there was no harm in it. We’re really pleased with the reaction from the club.”
The story went viral, gathering hundreds of retweets and shares within just a few hours.
Lynne Headridge said: “It just went crazy, I posted it on Facebook and it got hundreds of likes, it’s amazing how quickly people reacted to it.”
“The story has reached all over people in Glasgow are talking about it.”
