Runners converged on Dundee on Sunday for the city’s full and half marathons.

Bright sunshine greeted the field as they set out from Camperdown House for the annual DRAM (Dundee Running Adventure Marathon) event.

Many were running to raise money for charity, among them brothers Gavin and Andy Philp and their cousin Daniel, all from Broughty Ferry.

They took part to raise money for the Scottish Liver Transplant Unit in memory of the brothers’ sibling James, who died last year aged 26.

Another trio taking part were Lorna Hughes and Jennet Getty from Leven and Scott Houston from Balmullo all members of the Leven Las Vega Running Club who were raising awareness of the Blood Transfusion Service.

The vast majority including one braving the heat by dressing as Olaf the snowman from Frozen chose to take part in the half distance event, crossing the finishing line at the Barnhill Rock Garden.

Some 125 or so hardy souls made that their halfway point, setting their sights on a return to Camperdown before finally finishing.

“It’s a great event,” said George McMaster from Blairgowrie, who took part alongside Currys PC World colleagues Darren McKenzie from Dundee and Grant McKay from Tealing.

“Last year there were just two of us but after hearing how much fun we had, there’s seven of us run this year to raise funds for Macmillan.”
