Two film students based in Dundee have received a major boost after a local film production company stepped in to back their latest ambitious project.

Jeppe Rohde Nielsen and Alan McIlrath whose previous project, a short film called Game, is released this month have been backed by Flyboy Creative to help produce Corpach.

The film, about the Highland village which was struck by a minor earthquake in 1975, stars Scottish comedian and actor Gordon Kennedy.

The final-year Duncan of Jordanstone students said: “To complete our degree we are putting together all the knowledge, resources and contacts from the last three years of our studies to make an ambitious, not-for-profit short film entitled Corpach.

“We have written a script that could be turned into a full feature. However, we know that we can’t make the feature we want with the resources we have.

“Instead we are producing a 15-minute prelude to perhaps generate enough interest and support to finish it.

“As well as being shown at our own degree show with an estimated 10,000 visitors, the film will be played before feature films at DCA and will be seen by many people.

“We are looking for financial support and sponsorship from local people and businesses.”

Violetta Palak of Flyboy Creative said: “It’s a very interesting piece as it’s a true story about the earthquake which then becomes tangled up in the mists of modern-day myth and legend.

“They are really talented and so John Fairfield and I decided to take up the producers’ role.”

A fundraising gig is also being held on Sunday February 2 at Clarks on Lindsay Street, where local stars Gav and Robbie from AMWWF, Nicola and Scotty from Jagged Violet, Ross and Sean from Love Child and solo artist Neil McLaren will perform.

Anyone interested in sponsoring the project can do so at facebook.com/CorpachFilm or twitter.com/CorpachFilm.
