V&A at Dundee has secured £100,000 from the People’s Postcode Lottery to reach out to communities.

It will enable the project to develop its community activities and encourage widespread participation as part of its core outreach programme.

Sarah Saunders, head of learning and engagement for V&A at Dundee, said: “This new funding will really help us to connect with people across the nation.”

People will be encouraged to share their experience, knowledge and thoughts on design, as well as invited to engage with Scotland’s design heritage.

The funding will also enable the international design museum to work with Scotland’s brightest talent.

Thanking players of the People’s Postcode Lottery for their support, Sarah hoped they will become involved in the outreach activities in the lead-up to and beyond the opening of V&A at Dundee.

The £45 million V&A will be an centre for design, housed in a world-class Kengo Kuma building at the heart of Dundee’s waterfront.

It will host exhibitions, celebrate design heritage, inspire and promote contemporary talent and encourage design innovation for the future.

Design Dundee Ltd, a partnership between the Victoria and Albert Museum and Dundee City Council, Dundee and Abertay universities and Scottish Enterprise, is receiving £15m from the Scottish Government and the Heritage LotteryFund has awarded a first round pass of up to £9.2m.
