Flybe committed to cheap flights from Dundee to Amsterdam

Flybe committed to cheap flights from Dundee to Amsterdam

Regional airline Flybe has said it remains committed to offering low cost flights between Dundee and Amsterdam.

Eager Dundonians snapped up 1,200 low-cost advance tickets for Dundee Airport’s new connection within just two days of the route being confirmed.

Now the airline’s new winter schedule is offering a new batch of low-cost early bird flights between Dundee and Schipol, with the service keenly priced at £24.99.

Dundee City Council has been delighted with the initial response and hopes that the new service will be of huge benefit to residents.

To make the most of the route, however, it has offered £100,000 to support the marketing of the service on the continent to ensure the route is used to bring visitors and businesspeople to Dundee.

Meanwhile, Dundee West MP Chris Law has said that a renewal of the Public Service Obligation (PSO) subsidy is vital if the route from Dundee to London Stansted is to continue.

A PSO is provided for areas where a particular transport route is vital for the economy of the area, with the current subsidy for the London route running until June 30.

It has scope to be extended for a further period.

Mr Law said: “With the recent announcement of the Dundee to Amsterdam route, business and leisure tourism to Dundee is forging ahead and it’s vital that we have air links both nationally and internationally to get people in and out of Dundee.”
