Red-faced council chiefs could bill Dundee tax-payers for new front doors after a blunder at their multi-million-pound headquarters.
The doors have been declared “not fit for purpose” after dozens of complaints from staff and residents.
The electronic system, which was installed as part of the £34 million development of the new Dundee House, has also frequently broken down and had to be repaired.
The doors were damaged almost a year ago by a member of the public.
A pressure group has blasted the council over the “fundamental” error with the doors and claimed that “taxpayers will despair” over the cost of the mistake.
City bosses said they were “aware of situation” at their own headquarters and were “looking at alternatives”.
Local councillor Fraser Macpherson said the move to replace the doors was like “a lightbulb going off” in city bosses’ heads.
