Hundreds of people took the plunge at the weekend during a day-long charity abseil at Dundee University’s Tower Building.
The largest group taking part was the 70-strong Marie Curie Daredevil Challenge team. Also, taking part were the SPYS (Susan, Philip, Yvette and Sheila) team, who were raising cash for the Tayside MS Therapy Centre.
Charity patron Petra McMillan, from Carnoustie, praised all her daredevils for their bravery and generosity.
She said: “It was a really emotional day. There was big adrenaline rush and people were nervous but it was a fun atmosphere. The money raised means we can answer more calls over the summer.”
Now in its third year, the Marie Curie Daredevil Challenge is the area’s biggest single fundraising event.
To date, the abseil has raised more than £20,000 to provide an additional 1,000 hours of free professional nursing care to the terminally ill in Dundee, Angus, Fife and Perthshire.
Organiser Yvette McAngus said: “We have raised around £3,000.”
