Angus and Dundee nurse Lorna Cameron

Angus and Dundee nurse Lorna Cameron

A nurse who worked extensively in Angus and Dundee has died after a short illness.

Lorna Cameron spent her spent her entire working life caring for others, and tributes have been paid to the “bright, bubbly” mother of five.

The Forfar woman, who worked at Stracathro Hospital and as a district nurse in Brechin, died peacefully in Ninewells with her family at the bedside.

Her husband, Iain, led tributes to a woman he said “brought a touch of magic to everyone’s lives”.

The 49-year-old said: “Lorna passed away following a short illness. She was hospitalised in Ninewells’ high dependency unit on Friday and died on Sunday.

“The whole family was there when she passed away. All her immediate relatives were by her bedside, the children were there.

“Lorna was a truly loving, bright, bubbly person who brought a touch of magic to everyone’s lives. She will be sadly missed by many people.”

Lorna was passionate about her family, who live on Maviscroft, and devoted to her two teenage daughters Lyndsay and Emily, and her three teenage stepsons Brodie, Struan, and Bryson.

Her parents, Jean and Earl, brother Colin, and sister Faye said they were very proud of her caring nature.

Jean said: “She would go out of her way to help other people. She loved her job, in her career she was a district nurse and had even delivered a few babies at home not many people can say that. She was very outgoing, kind and had a great sense of humour.”

Barbara Ann Sweetin, minister of East and Old Parish Church, which Lorna attended, said: “Losing someone at such an early age is always a tragedy and Lorna had so much to live for, so many things still to do and a family who loved and needed her.

“So many people have said to me what a lovely lady she was.”

Lorna began her nursing career after leaving Arbroath High School.

As well as a long career in Angus, Lorna also worked in at Ninewells, and most recently as a lead at the Royal Victoria Hospital.
