Scotland’s first Christmas Day baby was born at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.
Dale John Henderson of Letham in Perth came into the world at 1.03am, later than mother Nicola Hutton was expecting .
As she cuddled her 6lb 15oz son, she said: “I was taken in to be induced at 3pm on Monday and I thought the baby would be born later on Christmas Eve.
“I was hoping that it might go into Christmas Day and was delighted that it did.
“He’s my first and I’m so happy. He was well worth waiting for.”
Shortly after Dale’s arrival, Steven and Lee Birrell’s son was born at 1.06am in Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy, weighing 7lb 9oz.
They were yet to name their bundle of joy before they brought him home to Dunfermline just hours later.
Then at 1.11am, Lucy Dewar, of Coldside, in Dundee, gave birth to son Logan Buxey, a healthy 6lb 11oz.
“He was due on Hogmanay but having him on Christmas Day is even better,” she said.
Penny Milligan, of Kirriemuir, was hoping to enjoy lunch with her husband and two sons but instead found herself in Ninewells giving them a little girl to add to the family.
“I was due on December 20 and thought it would be all over by Christmas Day and I would be with my family at my sister-in-law’s house,” she said.
“Jimmy and the boys are still going there but they’re coming in to see me later, and they’ll be delighted to see us.”
Daughter Taylor Small weighed a good 9lb 7oz. When our photographer left, she was warming her vocal chords to give her family a rousing welcome.
Three more babies were born in the Ninewells labour suite in the morning and one in the midwife unit, with three more labour suite births due later in the day.
At 3.17am, Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy, saw the arrival of Isla Tennant, (8lb 13oz), the first child of Lorraine Kerr and Gregor Tennant, also of Dunfermline.
Katy Turton and Grant Moir were visiting family in Scone when they received an extra special gift.
Their second son decided to make an unexpected appearance, arriving a week early. Henry Douglas Moir was born at 1pm at Perth Royal Infirmary, weighing 7lb 2oz.
