A Dundee family have been left devastated after the death of a 39-year-old doting granny following a sudden stroke at the weekend.
Lorraine Forbes suffered a blood clot to the brain on Saturday and sadly passed away on Monday morning.
She leaves behind two daughters aged 22 and 13 and her one-year-old granddaughter Paige.
Her broken-hearted elder daughter Natasha told The Courier her mum’s death had come completely “out of the blue.”
“She had a stroke on Saturday morning, she hadn’t been ill or anything, but she was able to talk on Saturday night although it was slurred.
“But she deteriorated on Sunday and we were told to fear the worst. It was a blood clot and it came right out the blue. I think it was the swelling that was the problem.”
Natasha said the family was grateful that her mother had not suffered unduly.
“She did go peacefully, she was sleeping and she didn’t really know.”
Natasha also revealed the tragedy came just days after her mother returned from a holiday with her younger daughter Brogan.
“They just came back from Egypt, they had a great time there, she said they really enjoyed it,” Natasha said. “Brogan is obviously really shocked and upset, I think she’s still in shock.
“And it’s kind of good that Paige is too young to be affected, but it’s sad that she will miss knowing her granny and won’t remember her.
“It’s not really sunk in yet, it’s not been 24 hours and it’s really just shock.
“We’ve had a lot of support from our family and friends and my granddad Robert is dealing with all the arrangements.”
A resident in Ardler all her life, Lorraine went to Ardler Primary School and Rockwell High School, her daughter said.
She worked in a number of jobs but latterly was a social care worker with Dundee City Council for the past few years.
“She really enjoyed her job,” Natasha said. “She was a really friendly, outgoing person, fun loving and very family-oriented.
“She was a wonderful mum and a doting granny.”
