A neighbour of Dundee man John Kennedy has been remanded in custody after appearing in court charged with his murder.
Michael Gerald Nolan (43), of Mossgiel Crescent, is charged with murdering Mr Kennedy at his home at 28 Mossgiel Crescent on April 29 by striking him repeatedly on the body with a knife to his severe injury.
He made no plea or declaration when he appeared in private before Sheriff Pyle. He was remanded in custody after solicitor James Caird made no motion for bail and the case was continued for further examination.
Mr Kennedy died after an alleged disturbance at his home at around 10.15pm a week past Sunday.
The alarm was raised by neighbours but emergency services discovered the 63-year-old dead at the scene.
A police presence was still visible in the Linlathen street on Tuesday. A marked car sat on the road outside Mr Nolan’s house with an officer inside and another uniformed policeman stood in its back garden.
The semi-detached property was cordoned off to allow a forensic search to be carried out.
Another police car was positioned outside Mr Kennedy’s house and that section of Mossgiel Crescent remained blocked to everyone barring residents and their visitors.
The man leading the inquiry, Detective Inspector Gary Ogilvie, has praised the response of the community while the police inquiry is ongoing but urged more locals to come forward.
