A court security guard is facing jail after he attacked a woman with a hammer and sent another a string of threatening text messages in an eight-month campaign of abuse, a court has heard.
Daniel Irvine, a former guard at Dundee Sheriff Court, sat in the dock of the court he once protected to admit the charges.
Irvine began sending his abusive messages to Helena Irvine in January 2011. They continued for almost eight months, ending on August 20 last year.
Prosecutors say they were of a ”threatening and abusive manner”.
On October 31 last year, Irvine launched a horrific attack on Louise Knight at a flat on Eden Street.
He struck her on the head with a hammer, leaving her injured and with permanent scars.
In court on Wednesday, fiscal depute Susan Ruta said a full narrative of the background to the case would be heard at a later date.
Irvine (53), of Ogilvie Street, Dundee, pleaded guilty on indictment to charges of assault to injury and permanent disfigurement and of breaching the Communications Act.
His solicitor, Ann Johnston, told the court Irvine admitted the charges.
She said she would reserve her plea in mitigation until a later sentencing date.
Sheriff Alistair Duff deferred sentence on Irvine until November for social work background reports.
Irvine was released on bail ahead of the hearing.
