A 46-year-old man, named locally as Robert Muirhead, was found dead in his home in Brora Place, Crossford, at 7pm on Tuesday. It is believed that his family come from High Valleyfield. The discovery was made by Fife police following officers being notified that the man had not been seen for a few weeks. A spokesman said, “Police forced entry to the house and discovered the man’s body within. “Early indications are that there is nothing suspicious but police are keeping an open mind.” He added that a report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal’s office in Dunfermline. It is understood that Mr Muirhead had been ill for some time. Neighbours expressed their shock at his death. One said, “I had heard he had been ill but didn’t know he had died, and at home. It’s a tragedy.” Another added, “I had seen him come and go from the house but didn’t know about this. It’s very sad.”
