Residents express concern after travellers set up camp in Dunfermline
ByNews reporter
The camp arrived at the end of Leys Park Road car park a week ago and there are around six caravans on the site.
Concerned householders in neighbouring Appin Crescent contacted Lib Dem Dunfermline parliamentary candidate Jim Tolson.
He said, “They are really worried because the camp is overlooking gardens and properties.
“I am a bit concerned about this happening again and again and again when we, as council tax payers, put tens of thousands of pounds into permanent travelling people’s sites.”
“I am happy travelling people come to Fife and use the permanent sites, but when they use illegal sites it is bad news for them and bad news for the public.”
Inspector Ian Paterson said officers had made contact with the travellers and that the council travelling person liaison officer would now be involved.
“The situation will be monitored until a resolution is achieved,” he added.
