They may have lost the referendum but participants who took part in a rally for the Yes campaign in Kirkcaldy at the weekend sent out a strong message that the Scottish independence movement is not dead and the fight will go on.

A large group gathered in Kirkcaldy Town Square at 1pm on Saturday, waving flags, playing bagpipes and just celebrating the fact that they are not giving up on their dream.

Yes Kirkcaldy coordinator Marie Penman said: “We’re going to keep the Yes Kirkcaldy group going in some shape or form too many of those involved just didn’t want to let it go!

“I asked everyone who came along to bring a donation for Kirkcaldy foodbank.

“Results would indicate that the majority of people in Scotland who live in poverty voted Yes last week, so we wanted to make it clear that we will continue to support them, no matter what further cuts Westminster brings.”

The Scottish independence referendum on September 18 saw 55% of participants vote No and 45% Yes.
