The father of a missing Glenrothes man has come to the heartbreaking conclusion his son has been murdered.
Allan Bryant Jr has not been seen since leaving Styx nightclub in the town during the early hours of November 3 last year.
Despite the largest missing person search ever conducted in Fife and numerous family appeals, no trace of the 24-year-old has ever been found.
Although his father, Allan Sr, has repeatedly said he believes his son to be dead, he is now openly stating his belief that foul play has been involved.
Asked if he believed his son had been murdered, Mr Bryant told The Courier: “Without doubt. I believe Allan has been murdered.
“I’ve heard the rumours and some of the things that people have said you just can’t begin to imagine.
“I’ve heard similar stories from about five people but I think that the people who do know things are frightened to go to the police.”
CCTV footage of Allan Jr’s last known movements was released last month in an effort to bring the investigation back into the public eye.
The footage showed him in a hooped top, walking through the foyer of Styx nightclub.
It then switches to an external view, where Allan is seen stumbling as he climbs steps.
Allan’s movements after this are unknown and around 3,000 hours of police time has been dedicated to finding him since.
Area chief inspector Nicola Shepherd said: “This is a live missing person investigation and as such I am unable to disclose any information surrounding the exact nature of some of the inquiries which are ongoing.
“My officers remain focused on the inquiry and we remain in regular contact with Allan’s family to provide information and support.
“The response from the public has been very encouraging but I would again appeal to anyone with information about Allan’s disappearance to contact the police regardless of how insignificant they may feel the information is.”
Anyone with information can contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
