A 27-year-old man has been left seriously injured after being attacked outside a Methil nightclub.

Police said the victim was set upon by at least two men in the early hours of Sunday outside the Venue on Wellesley Road. He was repeatedly struck about the head and body and it is understood the assailants used a weapon.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to the attack, which happened at about 1.30am, to get in touch. Detective Sergeant Graeme Dursley said: “This is a particularly serious incident that is being treated as attempted murder.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident to contact the police. Any information you have may be crucial to the inquiry.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101.
