A drug addict tried to smash his way into his grandmother’s home and then two days later stole her purse from her car.
John Wilson, 38, was staying with his gran in Hill of Beath.
However, finding himself locked out of the house and desperate for money to buy drugs on February 2, he threw a boulder at a window, smashing it.
Just two days later, hesneaked into his gran’s car and stole her purse.
Defence solicitor Sarah Meehan said her client was serving a 13-month sentence for another matter and his earliest release date was August 22.
She said “a chronic drug addiction is the catalyst for his offending. As he describes it, he was ‘rattling’ at the time and desperate for money,” she said. “He found himself locked out as his grandparents were not at home.”
She added that her client had since patched up his relationship with his grandmother and there were “no hard feelings” from her.
Sheriff Craig McSherry jailed Wilson for eight months to be served consecutively to his current sentence.
