Kirkcaldy firefighter Stevie McCrorie shot straight to number 1 with his debut single last night.

Local hero Stevie was crowned the winner of BBC TV talent show The Voice 24 hours earlier.

The 30-year-old father of one’s cover version of Lost Stars was released at midnight on Saturday and by yesterday morning it had become the most downloaded track in the online charts.

His triumph was topped off when former JLS frontman Marvin Humes revealed live on radio that he was top of the singles charts.

He told the Vodafone Chart Show presenter: “I can’t believe this is happening.

“I’m just an ordinary guy, a fireman whose mates signed him up to the Voice and now I’m speaking to you.

“I want to record an album as soon as possible and I’m looking forward to this year.

I just want to tahnk everyone that bought the single, I can’t even believe you’d take time to download this. Thank you.”
