Two Fife men are to stand trial accused of killing 90 ducks during a vandalism spree at a farm.
Benjamin Murray, 29, and Brandon Robb, 16, both of Leslie, near Glenrothes, are accused of killing the birds at Balquhomrie Farm in the town, between July 29 and August 1 this year.
They face the charge that, without reasonable excuse, they wilfully or recklessly destroyed or damaged the property belonging to another and did, while acting with other persons, kill 90 ducks.
The two men are also facing an alternative charge of, while acting with others, simply stealing the animals from the farm.
Murray and Robb have also been accused of carrying out various acts of vandalism over the course of the four days during the summer.
It is alleged that on a number of occasions, between July 29 and August 1, they, while acting with others, maliciously disabled and damaged a number of snares and fencing at the farm.
At Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on Monday their solicitors entered not guilty pleas on their behalf to the charges.
Neither Murray, of Greenside Court, nor Robb, of Paterson Park, were present.
Sheriff Alastair Thornton continued the case for trial in March next year, with a pre-trial hearing in February.
