Student will give you shirt on his back

Student will give you shirt on his back

If someone told you they planned to wear the same shirt every day for a year, you might well turn up your nose at the prospect.

University of St Andrews student Chris Macrae is to do just that but he at least plans to wash the shirt each night.

It is no off-the-cuff idea either, the 20-year-old believes his sponsor plan can help him pay his way through university.

Rather than take a bar job or stack supermarket shelves, the third-year psychology student, pictured, will be wearing the same logo laden shirt for the whole of 2014.

He said: “With a bit of luck, it will help me pay off my student loan.”

The university has more than 7,000 students so Chris says his sponsors will benefit from good exposure to a key market.

In fact he already has several backers and his shirt is filling up nicely.

One supporter, IdeaSquares, is a web service that connects business ideas with the people who can make them happen.

Founder Kirsty Ranger, 26, of Bristol, said: “I was glad to feature Chris on IdeaSquares because it puts him in touch with people who can help.

“I’m also hoping that other budding entrepreneurs will be inspired by his idea.”

Anyone with an idea that needs support, or who can help others get off the ground, can contact Kirsty at www.ideasquares.com.
