An elderly man has died after being rescued from the Firth of Forth by a lifeboat crew.
Queensferry RNLI volunteer lifeboat crew were called out by the Coastguard after a member of the public spotted a capsized dinghy to the east of Hound Point oil terminal on the south side of the river on Friday afternoon.
When the crew drew near they saw the man, 73, floating in the water. He was unconscious and not breathing. Two crew members helped the man on to the lifeboat before heading back to Hawes Pier, South Queensferry.
However, despite being transferred to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, Police Scotland said the man, whose identity has not yet been released, later died.
