Man dies in motorcycle crash near Burntisland

A man has died in a motorcycle accident in Fife.

The accident, which it is understood did not involve any other vehicles, happened around 1pm on Saturday two miles outside Burntisland on the A909 Cowdenbeath road near its junction with Binhill Road.

Police say the 30-year-old riderwas taken to the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy where he was pronounced dead.

Sergeant Derek Allan said: “Sadly a young man lost his life in this incident and my thoughts and condolences go to his friends and family.

“We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area of the collision around 1pm today or who may have seen the motorcyclist travelling up to there from the A92.

“Anyone with information is asked to please contact us on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

The road was closed in both directions while an accident investigation took place.
