The body of a man has been recovered from the sea off the coast of St Andrews.
Both the offshore and inshore lifeboats from Broughty Ferry were called to assist police in the search for a missing male at around 7.15pm, and crews recovered a body shortly after.
Police have yet to divulge any further details about the man or his identity.
A spokesperson for the RNLI said a helicopter was also flown above the West Sands to assist with the search.
The lifeboat crew returned to St Andrews Harbour with the man’s body and handed it over to waiting police.
A full investigation is expected to be carried out in due course.
