OVER 50 Fife high school pupils have risen to a renewable energy challenge.
In an event organised by Adam Smith College and the Hydrogen Office, 10 teams of third year pupils designed and made airships and airboats which they raced.
Buckhaven High won the airship competition while Auchmuty had the edge when it came to making the fastest airboat.
Event organiser Bill Hutchison said: “We have a great deal of talented pupils in our schools and the Hydrogen Challenge was an excellent way of getting our young people working together to learn new facts about renewable energy, gases and problem solving.”
Karen Ritchie from the Hydrogen Office added: “The individual pupils take with them some new skills and knowledge and an insight into an area of science and engineering which was brought to life for them on the day through the different activities.
“We hope that events such as this will encourage many more young people into science and renewable based careers in the future.”
