HARDY FIFERS will be joining the growing band of people up and down the country taking a bracing Boxing Day dip.
Loony dooks, as they are often known, are being held today in Anstruther and Leven.
As most people take it easy after the festive feasting, those brave enough will run or jump into the waters of the Forth.
In the East Neuk Dook at Anstruther, participants will jump into the harbour and swim across its mouth.
After the Leven Boxing Day Dip bathers will be rewarded with a warming nip of whisky.
Both events take place at 1pm.
The East Neuk Dook will raise money for SSAFA Forces Help and Help for Heroes.
It was launched by Kevin Corps 10 years ago, inspired by the Burghead Harbour Jump, and has become an annual highlight of the festive season in the town, having raised more than £25,000 for various causes.
The fifth annual Leven Boxing Dip will raise money for children’s cancer charity CLIC Sargent.
There were more than 50 bathers in fancy dress last year.
