The family of the teenager who was killed in a head-on road accident in Fife on Monday morning have paid tribute to their “great, fun-loving lad”.

Jefferson Kettles (18), of Falkland, was on his way to work in Ladybank when the Peugeot 206 he was driving was involved in a collision with a Peugeot 207 near Cupar.

Mr Kettles died at the scene on the A91, around 200 yards east of the former Robert Wiseman Dairies turn-off, near the Scottish Deer Centre.

A 51-year-old female driver of the other vehicle, who is also understood to be local, was rushed by ambulance to Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, for treatment to her injuries.

Police say she is likely to be discharged from hospital today.

Mr and Mrs Kettles said: “Jefferson was a much liked, typical teenager. He loved life, was loved by everyone who knew him and was a great fun-loving lad.

“We can’t believe we won’t see him again. We love you Jefferson.”

Tributes to the former Bell Baxter High School pupil have also been paid by friends and colleagues at GS Brown (Precision Engineers) Ltd in Ladybank, where he worked as an engineering trainee.

Inspector Brenda Sinclair, of Fife Constabulary, said: “Anyone who may have seen the cars involved just before the accident on the A91 yesterday morning should contact us on 0845 6005702.”

A report on the accident will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
