PUPILS OF an independent St Andrews school are enjoying lessons in a new £2.5 million building.
The redeveloped St Leonards Junior School was officially opened yesterday after a 14-month construction project.
Funded by the New Park Educational Trust, the building for children in years four to seven also houses a hall, reception area, offices and activity areas.
Trust chairman Martin Passmore was joined by members of St Leonards School Council as he conducted the official opening.
He said: “The trust is very pleased indeed with this important addition to the excellent facilities that already exist at St Leonards.
“In facilitating this stunning building for the junior school, the trust has shown not only its commitment towards enhancing education in St Andrews but has placed its total confidence in St Leonards as a leading Scottish independent school.”
The school, previously known as St Leonards-New Park, is the junior section of St Leonards School.
Headmaster Andrew Donald said staff and pupils were delighted with the facilities and added: “We are particularly grateful to the generosity of the New Park Educational Trust for making the project possible.”
