Perth residents are being urged to improve their oral health by registering for NHS care at the new £7.6 million Broxden Dental Centre.
The Community Dental Service moved to the site from its previous premises at the Drumhar Health Centre in November.
From there the service anticipates being able to accommodate 7000 new registrations in its first year and the first patients have already been seen.
Places remain available and NHS Tayside is keen to ensure as many people as possible register.
The new-build Integrated Dental Treatment and Training Centre at Broxden houses 20 surgeries, clinical skills training rooms, a dental laboratory, a decontamination unit and office accommodation.
It provides access for the people of Perth and Kinross to a broader range of dental services, including emergency treatment, on the one site.
NHS Tayside sees dental care as a priority and the centre will help meet the demand for NHS dentistry and to retain dentists in the area.
It has also been designed to be adaptable to meet future demand and is located to be easily accessible for patients by private or public transport.
Final year dental students from Glasgow and Dundee dental schools will also work in the centre under the supervision of a team of experienced dentists and patients may be offered the chance to be treated in the outreach teaching unit.
Charges are waived in full for any care provided by the senior dental students.
Perth residents who are not registered with an NHS dentist can still register at the centre by calling 01738 450550.
