Firefighters helped to evacuate residents from their properties on Monday night during severe flooding in Comrie.

An elderly resident and a disabled householder were moved into other properties after their homes in Tay Place fell victim to the deluge, with the River Earn reaching its peak.

Fire crews from Comrie and Crieff also attended flooding to homes elsewhere in the village from 6pm.

A spokeswoman for Tayside Fire and Rescue said the two Tay Place residents had been moved to a “safe location” and a doctor was in attendance as a precaution.

She said Comrie had suffered “widescale flooding over a significant number of houses”, adding: “Fire crews were pumping water from houses in Tay Place, Tay Avenue, Barrack Road and Camp Road.

“They also asked for a gulley tanker from the roads department to clean the gulleys.

“We have had flood warnings from the Scottish Environment Protection Agency and been told the River Earn has reached its peak tonight.”

She added that an enviromental protection unit was also in attendance.

Comrie suffered serious flooding in December 2006 and was also hit in 1997 and 1993.Full video available at the Comrie Croft Campsite and Hostel Facebook page
