Perthshire property experts are pioneering a high-tech tool to speed up and simplify the house-hunting process.
The Perthshire Solicitors Property Centre is launching a system that allows home-seekers to scan a barcode on “for sale” signs with their mobile phone and be taken directly to that property’s schedule on the PSPC mobile-optimised website.
Originating in Japan, the QR (quick response) codes will also be used on window cards in solicitors’ and estate agents’ windows and interior property displays. Although some phones can scan the code from up to 20 feet away, when “for sale” boards are out of reach, in the case of certain flats, codes will also be displayed on the front door.
Inviting member firms to take part in the project, PSPC manager Anne Begg believes the codes will make a huge difference to those hunting for the ideal home.
She said, “When you’re looking for a new home, time is vital and buyers have to move quickly. By scanning the code when they’re out and about, instead of scrambling for a pen and paper to jot down details, house-hunters will instantly get fuller details.
“This will accelerate and simplify the process of obtaining more information or arranging a viewing.”
Free QR code reader applications are available for all major smartphones.
