Having old valuables assessed could reap rich rewards for The Black Watch Castle and Museum.

On Thursday, March 10, Shapes Fine Art Auctioneers and valuers will be visiting Balhousie Castle to host an Antiques Roadshow day for the Friends of The Black Watch Castle and Museum.

Experts Mr Hamish Wilson and Dr Duncan Thomson will be on hand from 10am to 4pm to value any item.

Mr Wilson has general knowledge in all areas while Dr Thomson is a painting consultant and was director of the Scottish National Portrait Gallery from 1982-1997.

The £5 cost includes entry to the museum and the valuation of two items. Further items will be charged at £3 each.

Anyone already part of the Friends group will have their first two items valued for free.

Anyone wishing to take part can contact The Black Watch Museum on 01738 638152.FriendsThe Friends group was launched in October.

It supports the work of the museum and its staff to preserve the legacy of The Black Watch in its regimental home at Balhousie Castle.

A further event will take place on March 17 when Major Colin Innes will give a lecture on the life of Sir Thomas Graham, Lord Lynedoch.

The lecture will include discussions of Sir Thomas’s early life and his role as an agricultural moderniser, his military career and his time as an MP.
