Tens of thousands of revellers are expected to descend on Perthshire for a weekend of retro music.

Scone Palace will be transformed into a sea of neon as around 30,000 people relive their youth during the fourth Rewind Festival in Scotland.

Highlights of this year’s event include Billy Ocean and a rare appearance from American pop icons Daryl Hall and John Oates, as well as performances by Midge Ure, the Boomtown Rats and Marc Almond.

Experts are forecasting thunder, lightning and something a little more frightening across Courier Country this weekend.

However, Rewind organisers have given assurances that even if it turns into a cruel summer, revellers will still be left walking on sunshine.Photo gallery: Rewind Festival 2013Predictions of thunderstorms and heavy rain have failed to shake their confidence the festival will be a huge success.

Organiser David Heartfield said: “There is an amber weather warning in place for Saturday but that is the lowest level of warning.

“We’ve been monitoring the weather very closely and the predictions have been changing every day.

“We will hope for the best but festival-goers in Scotland are a hardy bunch and I am sure they will cope no matter what the weather throws at them.”

According to the Met Office, parts of Fife, Perth and Kinross, Angus and Dundee can also expect large hailstones, strong winds and flooding.

A weather warning for heavy rain will remain in place for much of the weekend.
