A93 to close for six-week land slip repairs

A93 to close for six-week land slip repairs

A Perthshire road will be closed for two days as part of a six-week programme of repairs.

The A93 near Bridge of Cally was affected by a landslide in 2013 and has had temporary traffic lights in place ever since.

From next week, Perth and Kinross Council will carry out repair works to the area, which are expected to take approximately six weeks to complete.

During the works, the embankment will be stabilised, the road drainage system will be improved and the road will be resurfaced.

Temporary traffic signals will be in place while the repair works are carried out and a temporary 10mph speed limit will be introduced. As the road will be narrowed during works, a convoy system will be in place.

During the week of June 8, the A93 will be closed overnight between 7pm and 7am to allow road drainage crossings to be installed. This work will be carried out over several nights but the road will remain open during the day.

During the following week of June 15, the road will need to close for up to two days to allow for carriageway surfacing work.

A spokeswoman for Perth and Kinross Council said: “Unfortunately this work cannot be carried out at night.

“A signed diversion will be in place via the A923 A9 A924. As the repair works progress, the exact dates of this closure will be confirmed and road-side signs will be erected to advise when the road will be closed.

“Local residents can contact the council’s roads network management team for further information by calling 01738 475248 or by emailing roadsnetworkmanagement@pkc.gov.uk.”
