
Desperate refugees fleeing war-torn Syria are to start new lives in Perth and Kinross.
The council is at the forefront of Scottish local authorities in preparing to rehome and support vulnerable groups.
Councillor Dave Doogan said it was right that they should provide sanctuary for people who had endured “the most appalling hardship”.
The Syrian refugees will be drawn from camps in the region, not those who have entered Europe in recent months.
The scale of the humanitarian effort has not been revealed but the council say it will involve resettlement of “a small number of families”.
