Andy Murray has brought a piece of Wimbledon to his Perthshire hotel by having the tennis courts decked out in the famous All-England Club colours.
The Courier has learned that the grand slam winner’s mum Judy secured special permission to use the same colours seen at SW19.
She instructed tennis court designers Doe Sport North to create the full-size court in the colours first adopted by the All-England Club in 1909.
She also ordered a similar children’s court for Cromlix Hotel, which Andy Murray bought last year for £1.8 million.
Managing director of Doe Sport North, Les Maclean, said: “The first time I met Judy up there at Cromlix was last April, before Andy won Wimbledon in the July.
“She was clear then that she wanted Wimbledon colours. There was no discussion. Our manufacturer knows the colour numbers. We got it exactly right.
“Judy sorted it all out with the All-England Club. She’s done a lot for them.”
Judy also told the tennis court designers to borrow style tips from the ATP World Tour.
Mr Maclean said: “Judy wanted what you see on the ATP tour courts so they’ve got the hotel name at one end and Doe Sport at the other end.”
Doe Sport North secured the Cromlix contract after a word-of-mouth recommendation led Judy Murray to the firm.
Mr Maclean said: “We do a lot of tennis courts for the rich and famous.”
Cromlix guests will get the chance to step on to the Wimbledon-style court for the first time when the hotel opens on April 1.
Mr Maclean added: “We pulled out all the stops to get it done. I’m very proud of it. I’m sure Andy Murray will feel at home.”
A spokesman for the All England-Club said: “If it gets more people playing and enjoying tennis, so much the better.”
