Perth punter turns £50 into £470,327

A Perth punter is celebrating after winning almost half a million pounds at the racetrack.

Kenny MacNicol’s bookie-bashing exploits saw six horses romp home to complete an accumulator bet win at Perth Racecourse.

The 56-year-old’s remarkable luck resulted in him scooping £470,327 from an initial £50 stake.

Among the half dozen horses he roared to victory was his own, Parson’s Punch.

The engineer revealed he kept faith with the horse despite it previously refusing to race, leading to relentless ribbing from workmates.

He said: “The lads all put donkeys’ heads beside my desk. It was all in good humour but this time I think I’ll be the one having the last laugh.

“I was so nervous. I knew it was worth a fortune.”

Kenny said he could not believe what happened on Sunday.

He said: “All the horses I backed had a chance but racing isn’t an exact science so it’s massively unlikely that everything will fall into place.”

His first winner was 4-7 shot Dantes King, setting of a string of victories.

Kians Delight (10-11) and Solway Bay (9-1) followed, while his fourth choice,

Falcaragh was a non-runner, leaving the pot to roll on to Strobe, at 6-1.

Kenny’s own horse, at 8-1, did not let him down and Henllan Harri (7-4) completed his astonishing run of success.

He said: “Once Strobe won, I knew it was getting serious.”

After sharing his celebrations with staff at his horse’s stable in Glenfarg, Kenny will use the money to treat his family.
