Devastated after being spurned by the object of his affection, a lovestruck man trashed her Perthshire home.
After receiving a text joking about needing his help at a quiz, Rodney Wright met up with his friend at a nearby pub.
Later, at her home, he drunkenly declared his feelings for the woman.
Perth Sheriff Court heard a “verbal altercation” took place, causing the terrified woman to dash from her Almondbank house.
When she returned to her property, she found Wright had smashed her television and torn up her carpet, causing £1,000-worth of damage.
The woman contacted Tayside Police, who picked up 40-year-old Wright and advised him he was being detained.
He began remonstrating with the officers, kicking one on the left arm, and was taken to divisional headquarters in Perth.
Wright, of Rosliston Road, Stapenhill, admitted that on June 16 last year at Crieff Road he assaulted a constable by kicking him while he was driving.
He also admitted damaging another’s property on the same date at Lumsden Crescent, Almondbank.
He was made the subject of a community payback order, which involves a supervision requirement for two years and carrying out 250 hours of unpaid work.
Sheriff Lindsay Foulis also ordered him to pay £1,000 compensation.
