Rewind Scotland The 80s Festival, returns once more to Scone Palace in Perth in July, with an even bigger and better line-up of classic 80s acts.
Headlined by Ali Campbell’s UB40 and OMD (Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark), the line-up features more “credible” acts this year along with the usual good-time, party bands to keep the crowds on a high.
It is the third year running the festival will take place at Scone Palace, over the weekend of Friday July 26 to Sunday 28.
With entertainment in the campsite on the Friday, there will be two days of non-stop music on the main stage from the biggest names of the decade, alongside plenty of audience participation, fun and dressing up the name of the game at Rewind.
Other acts include a rare appearance from Jason Donovan, A Flock Of Seagulls, Tony Hadley, Rick Astley, Belinda Carlisle, Level 42, Earth, Wind & Fire Experience Featuring Al McKay, Howard Jones, Soul II Soul, Kim Wilde, Mike and The Mechanics, the Blow Monkeys, Sonia, Nik Kershaw and more.
Organiser David Heartfield said he was delighted to be coming back to Perth once more.
“It’s a beautiful site and the audience is growing every year,” he said. “Last year we had around 25,000 people and this year there will be even more.
“The early-bird tickets sales have been significantly higher this year. The strongest thing is word of mouth. People tell their friends what a great time they had last year and what a great party atmosphere it is.
“Yes, probably there are slightly more ‘credible’ acts this year. We’re seeing more and more bands from around that time keen to get involved at Rewind and work it into their schedules.
“OMD did Henley last year and they played a storming set. You forget how many hits they had. They played for an hour and it was just hit after hit.
“Starship are a great band as well and have great songs and there’s Mike & The Mechanics as well. But it’s a real mix of acts and there are still plenty of party acts on the bill to make it a really fun weekend.”
Campers will start arriving on Friday July 26 for the festival, which also features a Silent Disco to Live Karaoke Bar.
Launched at Henley-on-Thames in 2009, Rewind The 80s Festival has featured 80s stars including Boy George, Village People, The Human League, Gloria Gaynor, Kool & The Gang, Holly Johnson and Bananarama.
Two years ago the first Rewind Festival took place north of the border.
