Reports of an upturned kayak prompted a turnout by Scottish Fire and Rescue at the Hermitage woodlands in Highland Perthshire.
Crews arrived above the main waterfalls at the beauty spot shortly after 1.30pm following a call from a member of the public.
Although the service stressed they had received no report of anyone in difficulties, a spokesman said the call had to be taken seriously.
They later confirmed the incident was being treated as a well intentioned false alarm.
